Trimming the roots
What do you think about trimming the roots. I read about it here: http://aerogardeners.wikia.com/wiki/AeroGardening_Tips#

I asked AG customer service about it, but they didn't recommend to trim.
What's your opinion?

Keeping the roots out of the the water pump is a good idea, though. I use a bit of knee-high hose tied around the water pump, on my one Aerogarden that still has an internal water pump. You can get knee-highs for like 99 cents at drugstores, etc. I cut them up for plant ties, as well.

I've never done it, but I can see both sides of the issue.  I have been dabbling with my own design of aeroponics/hydroponics and saw that a normal size tomato plant will outgrow a container too small to accomodate it.  Trimming the roots, however would pose a delicate problem; i.e. how do you trim the roots separately from other plants in the same unit?  If you remove the plant from the unit, one at a time, you run the risk of damaging the plant because of ripping the roots from another plant.  I would probably do more damage doing this, so I don't plan to try it.

I've never heard of anyone
I've never heard of anyone trimming plant roots in an Aerogarden before, and don't see any reason to do it.
