Hi all,

First try at growing sprouts in quart canning jars.  Doing alfalfa, broccoli and mung beans. Any words of wisdom?

Words of wisdom: Don't forget to tend them every day.

I haven't grown bean sprouts since an unfortunate traumatic incident in childhood. I forgot them in the closet for a week. A cruel parent made me clean out the mess. Well, OK, Mom was completely reasonable. But it was gross.

Hi Gisette,

Yewww, gross.  Good Mom for making you clean the mess .    I made sure the canning jars were cleaned and sterilized the seeds.  I've been rinsing the sproutlets twice a day and they do look good.  So, my sprouts are sprouting and I have no idea how big they are supposed to get before eating. Any suggestions on alfalfa sprout size?

Beth

Never eaten them, sorry. They grow pretty predictably - try 'em the day the packet says they'll be done?
