Please help- white spots on the pepper
Hello everyone, I'm worried because I found some white spots on the stem and some leaves of my potted pepper. I saw it a couple of days ago, but I thought that might be the fallen pollen. Also today I can see some fuzzy stuff around the roots that look out from the soil. What is that? Some fungal infection? These are my first experiments in growing vegetables and I am afraid of losing my pepper plant. What can I do?

Ooh, thanks Arian. Good to know! I am guilty of overwatering the peppers. Thought they didn't mind.

What a releif! I'll stop torturing my plant with H2O2, rubbing with vinegar, etc.

Arian - Oh that stuff! Yeah,
Arian - Oh that stuff! Yeah, I get that too (see here on my currently-harvesting potted pepper). It doesn't seem to do the plant any harm. I'm not sure whether it's biological or crystalline - my guess is crystalline. Like, the pepper exhales through its leaves. Something is in that exhalation, just like something is dissolved in our sweat and out-breath. And it crystallizes?

So much for SWAGs. In practice, my pepper plant has that, and is planted in potting mix very much like yours, and it's a happy healthy plant, currently harvesting ripe peppers. The whatever-it-is doesn't seem to do much damage.

If you ever find out what it is, let me know? I'm curious (not worried).

 Thanks, Ginger,
I don't have photos of the fuzzy roots, because I've washed them apporximately acccording to this instruction:
http://homeguides.sfgate.com/cure-sick-houseplants-peroxide-77821.html

But I've attached 2 photos of the bumpy spots on the stem and leaves. Please have look. What may it be?

Nice to see everybody
Nice to see everybody chatting! Good for you, Cap'n Dodge!

My peppers have been fuzz-free, so I don't have any answers here. You're welcome to post a picture, Arian, if it would help. The easiest way to do that is to upload a picture to Picasa or PhotoBucket, and only use the insert-edit image widget here to link to it. Or file attach, if you want.

Thanks for your reply,
Thanks for your reply, Captjdodge. I'll try the cinnamon. I've already watered it with some h.peroxide mix. You are right, it's a great hobby, although sometimes frustrating to lose a plant after caring for 2-3 months (in my case). I wish you good luck in your health and in your hobby.

 I've seen this before and
I've seen this before and the white fuzz doesn't affect the plant.  If it bothers you like it did me?  Sprinkle a little powdered cinnamon at the base.  It's a natural anti-fungal that won't hurt the plant.  The white spots on the leaves I haven't seen so I am not sure about that.  Bottom line is don't panic.  It's a learning process and there's always more seeds/plants.  I am slowly learning myself.  I am teaching myself something new because I suffered head injuries that has caused a couple strokes.  The first nearly killed me.  The second one - I lost a lot of memory.  This has became a great hobby and I am enjoying it big time.
