Mild Shrimp Cocktail

I think I managed to reconstruct a shrimp cocktail appetizer I enjoyed on my cruise to Alaska. Of course how you get cooked shrimp and red cocktail sauce is up to you - my supermarket just didn't have any other small shrimp.

defrost a shrimp ring (mine was 12 oz - 8 oz shrimp & 4 oz sauce)


1 heaping tablespoons of mayonnaise
1/2 teaspooon fresh dill
~ 6 drops lemon juice
~ 1 teaspoon red tomato-horseradish seafood cocktail sauce

Mix all the sauce ingredients. Dip a shrimp in it to test for flavor. Adjust proportions to taste.

Can serve it several different ways:

  • Next to shrimp ring and red cocktail sauce as alternate dip
  • Coat shrimp thinly with sauce, then serve on fresh lettuce (this is how the cruise served it)
  • I'll probably eat the leftover shrimp & sauce, with lettuce, on a sandwich roll tomorrow.
