Cool newsletter this month from Park Seed.
Article covered companion plants that attact bees; companions that attract other good bugs; repelling pest insects (including aphids, squash bugs, potato beetles, tomato hornworm, and Japanese cucumber beetles); and flower trap crops.
I don't know how strong these effects are, but any help would be appreciated against aphids, squash bugs, and cucumber beetles.
And - "realtors say that no home improvement repays its cost more effectively than plants." Granted, this is probably because other home improvements cost so much more.
