Received both Classic and 6-Elite as wedding gifts. Which one is better? I need to return one of them.
There is now the VeggiePro which is the Elite 6+ without the steel trim but with the trellis kit included at a better price at $179.
I would keep the Elite 6 and return the Classic if they still take them since it is more difficult to get the 7 pod kits this days.
Just to clarify - Aerogrow did a really weird naming thing on the AG6. The AG6 Elite is an AG6 with stainless steel trim. Peat - I think you're thinking of the AG6 Elite Plus, which has a 3rd lightbulb and raises the lights higher. The AG6 has about the same light output as the Classic. I think. They're not the same bulbs. But there are two of them, and they're nearly the same wattage as the Classic bulbs.
They didn't make it easy with the naming.

How much time do you have to return one? Many an addict has been born... And since you can't grow lettuce and tomatoes together... And lettuce is the perfect Aerogarden application...
The 6-Elite is the better machine. The "Classic" is their original model, and they found they had reliability problems with the water pumps, and better growth with air pumps. On the other hand, the Classic has one extra pod hole, which is nice for growing greens and herbs, which are small enough plants to have 7 pods on one machine.
They both grow fine, though.
I dunno if you can get away with setting them up with water (don't get the pods wet) to see how they both sound before deciding. I kinda like the trickling sound of water pumps better than the sound of air pumps and bubbles.
